Greene Mfg. Co, Providence, RI. Twin in box frame. Miniature, cylinders size 3" x 4," made by Greene to show his unique quick cut-off mechanism during patent battle against Corliss, who had been granted a patent that covered ALL quick cut-off mechanisms. (Corliss won, but only for a few years, after which Green began to produce. The mechanism has "teeth" that trip other "teeth" to actuate the valves, and they are adjustable.) This relic has been in need of restoration for a long time. It was cannibalized, but fortunately the cannibal left one of everything that needs re-making. Regal Marine gas engine, 4-6 hp, 4-stroke cycle. Like new with original "regal" blue paint. Seems to have been installed in a boat, telling by set-screw marks on out-put shaft, but not for long. Beautiful brass fittings. Perfect condition; no scratches or wrench tracks. (Hype: Stored under a boat shed bench on Lake Union, Seattle, until purchased by Bill Durham fifty years ago.)
